How Long Do Vape Pods Last? Pod and Coil Life, the Signs, and the Battery

A refillable pod is a consumable: the cotton wick and the coil inside it wear out, and the pod is replaced (or on some kits only the coil). How long one lasts is set by how much liquid passes through it, not by the calendar. How long a pod lasts

• In liquid: roughly 15 to 30 mL per pod for a 0.8 to 1.2 Ω nicotine-salt pod at ordinary power, before the wick stops keeping up. Sweetened liquids shorten that; lower power and plain liquids extend it.
• In time: one to two weeks for most people, from the liquid figure at 1 to 2 mL a day. A 2 mL pod refilled daily is one pod every 10 to 14 fills; a 5 mL pod refilled every few days comes to about the same.
• Sub-ohm pods and coils go faster in liquid terms because they vaporize more per puff: often a week at direct-to-lung use.
• Manufacturers do not publish pod life, and Vaperan does not test it; the figures above are the working range reported at the counter and in the makers’ own guidance to replace a pod “when flavor drops”.

The signs a pod is finished

1. Flavor drops and the vapor thins, even with a full pod and a charged battery.
2. A burnt or papery note appears on the first puff after a rest (why a vape tastes burnt).
3. The liquid darkens faster than it used to; a worn coil gunks up and discolors what is left in the pod.
4. Gurgling or leaking that reseating does not fix: the seals and the wick are tired (why a vape leaks).

Making a pod last

• Prime a new pod: fill it, wait five to ten minutes, take two or three gentle unfired draws. A dry first puff scorches cotton that never recovers (how to use a pod system).
• Keep it above a quarter full. Running a pod dry is the fastest way to kill it.
• Use the power the pod is rated for. On adjustable kits, stay within the range printed on the pod or coil.
• Thinner, less sweet liquids coat the coil more slowly.
• Keep a spare. 30 pod systems and all-in-ones in the catalog list two pod or coil resistances in the box, so a spare of a different draw style is often already there.

How long the battery lasts

Two different questions. Per charge: a 750 to 3800 mAh pod-system cell is a day of ordinary use for most people, less with a sub-ohm pod; the mAh guide explains the figure. Over its life: a built-in lithium cell is good for a few hundred full charge cycles, which at a charge a day is one to two years before capacity drops noticeably. Charging on a plain USB port, not leaving it on charge overnight, and keeping it out of hot cars extend that (battery safety). Kits with removable cells sidestep the question: the cell is replaced, not the kit (18650 battery vape kits).
