Vape Buyer’s Guide

Vaperan sells three kinds of hardware: disposable vapes, pod systems and box mod kits. This guide explains how they differ, which specifications matter. It is written for adults 21 and over who already use nicotine.

2. Understand puff counts

The number on the label is the maximum figure the manufacturer prints; it is not comparable between models. What actually determines how long a disposable lasts is the e-liquid capacity in milliliters and how often you use the boost or pulse mode. Compare devices on mL first, puffs second.

3. Nicotine strength

• 5% (50 mg/mL) nicotine salt: the strength on most of our disposable listings.
• 2% to 3% (20 to 30 mg/mL): listed on a few models; see the nicotine strength guide.
• 0% (nicotine free): same flavor and hardware without nicotine.
• Freebase 3 to 6 mg/mL: see the nicotine strength guide.

4. Specifications worth reading

• Battery (mAh): disposables run 550 to 1,500 mAh; pod systems 750 to 3,800 mAh; box mods use one or two 18650 or 21700 cells (often sold separately).
• Coil: the listing names the coil type.
• Charging: look for USB-C.
• Airflow: the listing says whether it is adjustable.
• Display: screens that show battery and liquid level remove the guesswork about when a device is about to die.
• Activation: draw-activated is simplest. Button firing gives more control and stops accidental firing in a pocket.

Every product page on Vaperan lists these values in the “Additional information” tab, taken from the manufacturer’s published specifications. Where a manufacturer did not publish a value, we leave it blank rather than guess.

5. Compatibility

Pods and coils are brand and series specific. Uwell Caliburn G pods do not fit a Caliburn A, and Vaporesso XROS pods only fit XROS devices. Check the exact series name on the product page before buying refills. “Pod-based disposables” such as the Foger Switch Pro or Lost Mary Nera use a reusable battery and replaceable prefilled pods; make sure you buy pods for the same model.

6. Care and battery safety

• Charge with a low-power USB brick or computer port, not a fast charger, and never leave a device charging overnight.
• Keep devices out of direct sun and hot cars. See vape battery safety.
• For mods with removable 18650 or 21700 cells, use a battery case, keep wraps intact and never carry loose cells with keys or coins.
• Prime new coils before firing.
• Dispose of dead devices at an electronics or battery recycling point. Do not put lithium batteries in household trash.

1. Buying on puff count alone instead of mL capacity and battery size.
2. Using 50 mg nicotine salt in a sub-ohm tank.
3. Ordering pods for the wrong series.

Are these products FDA authorized?

The FDA has granted marketing authorization to only a small number of e-cigarette products, mostly tobacco and menthol flavored pod systems. Most flavored disposables sold in the United States, including many on this site, are marketed without a granted marketing order.
