What the airflow control changes

• How tight the draw feels. Closed: a cigarette-like, mouth-to-lung pull. Open: a looser pull with more air and more vapor per puff. MTL vs DTL explains the two styles.
• How warm the vapor is. More air cools the coil; a closed airflow gives warmer, denser vapor.
• How fast the e-liquid goes. Open airflow and longer draws use more liquid per puff. The puff rating is measured with short machine puffs, so an open setting lands further from the rated figure (puff counts explained).
• Not the nicotine strength. The liquid is the same at any setting. A tighter draw feels stronger because the vapor is denser per breath, not because the device delivers more nicotine per millilitre.
• Not whether it fires. On a draw-activated device, closing the airflow completely can stop the sensor triggering; if a device will not hit, open the airflow first (a Geek Bar that will not hit).
